Zombie Bride

Best. Zombie. Bride. Ever.

Maris the Great

I’ve been a little out of action for a few days, so I’m going back and processing more zombie shots, since I don’t feel that I sufficiently tortured everyone with zombie shots back around Halloween. This guy goes by the name Maris the Great. The difference between him and most of the other zombies I shot was that he pretty much dresses this way all the time.

Fringed

Yet another crazy-colorful sunset. The aqua and red fringes were really there, and even more intense than they appear in this shot. Very cool.

Puff

Not much to say here. I don’t know what it is, but it’s puffy, and I thought it was cool.

Emmadoodle

It appears as though this is the first time that Emma has graced these pages, which is a bit of a surprise to me, for a couple reasons. First is that I’ve known her since the day she was born and I have pictures going back to the beginning, and second, I’ve always thought she was one of the most adorable kids ever. Anyway, I’m fixing that oversight right now. So here’s Emmadoodle.

Thirsty

A fierce game of bocce ball conjures up a powerful thirst.

Leggy Up Close

This is the tight crop of the shot from Day 323 that I promised. It’s one of those rare shots for me that is in focus no matter how close you look.

Aidan

I can’t remember if I’ve ever posted a shot of Aidan. He’s one of the kids’ cousins, and is about the same age as Jenna. This was taken at the post-Thanksgiving “fiesta” that has become an annual tradition.

Scattered to the Wind

Fall is the season when many plants spread their seeds to the winds. These pods had burst open, and the seeds were being dispersed by the afternoon breeze.

Madagascan Moon Moth

The Madagascan Moon Moth, also known as the Comet Moth, is native to Africa, and is a rare guest at the Butterfly Pavilion. I got lucky on this day though. This particular specimen had just emerged from its cocoon and I got to watch it being released.

Popsicle Plant

I don’t know what the correct name for this is, but it looks like a popsicle to me.

Primary Colors

As I was getting ready to take this shot, not one, but two people stepped behind my lovely model. I was annoyed at the time, but when I pulled up this shot to review, I ended up loving the way the blue and red of their shirts gave me the full complement of primary colors.

Butterfly Lady

This wonderful lady was resting on a bench inside the tropical garden at the Butterfly Pavilion. She had such lovely eyes, and such a winning smile that I had to get a shot of her.

Leggy

This beautiful, long-legged creature flew right in front of me and landed on the flower. I just snapped a quick shot before it moved on, but it turned out to be one of the sharpest butterfly shots I’ve ever gotten. I’ll post a close crop later.

Big Ass Leaf

Now at first glance, you might think macro, but you’d be wrong. This was shot with the 70-200, and the distance was probably 5 or 6 feet. This is just one gigantic leaf, probably 3-4 feet across.
