Crater Lake

I think I might have posted part of this shot some time ago, but I decided to revisit it. I took two shots at the time, but they were sufficiently mismatched that I had trouble making them into a panorama. I decided to try again. The results were a bit better this time.

Peace Out, Dude

This was not one of the racers, but he seemed pretty damn stoked about getting cheered and having his picture taken.

Head Out On The Highway

Bikers make for the coolest panning pictures EVER!

Get Your Motor Running

I went out to see the racers go by during the U.S.A. Pro Cycle Challenge, and I thought while I waited, I’d practice my panning skills. They were, and are, minimal. However, I did manage to snag a few keepers, like this guy rolling on by.

Dexter

This is Dexter. He’s about the size of a guinea pig, and he has lost his shoe. This is also the first shot I took with the 5D Mark II/135mm f/2L combo. The room was almost completely dark and the I had to focus manually.

Storm Front

I was going through the series of shots I took during the lightning storm a few weeks ago, culling out the duds, of which there were many. I came across one sequence of shots that didn’t produce any good lightning, but I thought it was fascinating to see the movement of the storm throughout the progression.

Restful Doe

Last one of the deer shots. The young doe arrived some time before the buck did, and spent a couple hours lounging comfortably in the shade.

Raspberry

Another shot from the Suburban Muley bunch. He stuck his tongue out at me! Cheeky beast!

On another note, this represents the 500th post since the site reboot in May 2011. Who’d a thunk I’d have kept it up!

Lens Sharks!

I don’t know where they came from, but they are in there! This is a shot inside my 135mm f/2L. Can you see them?

Erected By The People

This is a shot of the Denver City and County Building. The inscription on the front of the building reads “Erected By The People City and County of Denver”

Jody

Jody hasn’t been featured here very often, mostly because she doesn’t like having her picture taken. However, she does make for a pretty damn good photo if she’ll just sit still and smile for a second.

Where’s Cammie?

Haven’t mentioned it before now, but last Thursday the 18th, Cammie left for her Rotary Youth Exchange. For the next year, she will be making Sangolqui, Ecuador her home. For the last several years, Cammie has been my travel, photography, hamburger, and general best buddy, and this whole leaving the nest thing is kicking my ass. Guess I better get over it, but I can tell you that I can’t wait until next July! This shot of Cammie was taken at her going-away party a couple weeks ago.

Feeling Nappy

This is the newest addition to Thayer’s family, Jackson. He was feeling a little lazy

Suburban Mule Deer

I was sitting on the back porch at a friend’s house in Aurora last night when this fellow happened along, blissfully ignoring us while he foraged along the fence at the back of the yard. I wanted to get a decent shot, but he had his head down, working his way away from us. I finally whistled at him, and he turned to look…click…

Hot Dogs! Get Your Hot Dogs!

One of the vendors at the Rockies game. I just liked his look.
